History will someday remember Akpabio as a former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, who had the opportunity to write his name on gold, but botched the opportunity.
It is disheartening to see a former Governor talk so loquaciously, dishing out lies to the public with reckless abandon. I recollect that, in 2015, while we mounted an intense campaign for Buhari to emerge as Nigeria’s President, Akpabio was sabotaging our efforts with campaigns of calumny. Video evidence shows, that Akpabio went everywhere, insulting Buhari, one of which he said, Buhari and APC were still looking for his primary 6 certificate.
Today, Akpabio defected to the All Progressives Congress to dine and wine with the Buhari he expressed so much disdain for. The Buhari people stuck their necks for. No one would ever believe that the flamboyant and proud Godswill Akpabio could “stoop low” to be seen around a man he never saw anything good in.
I have maintained previously, that, Akpabio loves power, and loves to be seen where it is happening. We recollect how Akpabio stood with Jonah Jang, a Former Governor of Plateau State, to form a factional Nigerian Governors’ Forum(NGF), despite Chibuike Amaechi, the then Governor of Rivers State, scoring 19 to Jang’s 16, that power play gained popularity for what is today, remembered as 16 is greater to 19. As then Chairman of PDP Governors’ Forum, he had so much power and influence to play with, that Akpabio’s words were laws. Those were his inglorious days of deceit to Nigerians, and standing logic on the head.
Akpabio established for himself, an empire, where he takes political salutes. He as Governor, decided, who became even a Councillor in Akwa Ibom State.
But, one thing Akpabio has forgotten is that, he has left office. That the paraphernalia of state had left him. He still wishes he was the Governor, where he dishes out commands and blare siren around town. This we recollect today, in his public appearances then, while still in the PDP, where he was always attending state functions late, after Governor Udom had been seated.
Godswill Akpabio is very much acquainted with state protocol. He knows that once a Governor is seated, you don’t break the protocol of such event, but being a “showman” and an attention seeker, he had so much felt he was still the Governor and never got used to life outside the Government House.
All these Akpabio did, was to spite Udom Emmanuel, and know the kind of person the Governor was. But in spite of seeming provocations, the Governor had maintained his cool, with his predecessor, until ‘water pass garri.’
Shocking as it may sound, Akpabio who once described the APC broom carriers as houseboys, is seen today carrying broom. on the minds of rational beings, the question is, is Akpabio a House boy? Haven used his tenure to fight against the houseboy, housegirl syndrome, how could a Former Governor of my state become a House boy? God forbid!
Another shocking speech from Akpabio, was his sycophantic statement to please the powers that be, when he declared that, in 2015, his heart was with Buhari, while he worked for then President Goodluck Jonathan during the elections. This lie is too pathetic for someone who is above 50years.
We all know that Akpabio would still have been around Jonathan, had he won his elections for a second term as President.
But today, I ask the former Governor Akpabio, the Nsima Ekere you so despised, even as your Deputy Governor, is it the same Nsima Ekere you want to make Governor? Why didn’t you handover power to him in 2015, since he was that good?
I am more convinced that, Akpabio has no political shame. When Governor Udom Emmanuel will roundly defeat your choice candidate in 2019, I hope you will not say your heart was with Governor Udom, While your body was with Nsima Ekere?
Examine yourself, and have a political ideology to remain in a particular party irrespective of their present or future state.
As you support your candidate, carry your body and heart along, so that in the end, your body will not end up with a candidate and your shoe will support another. Men of Noble characters are known by their words. For now, you have lost it.
A REPUTATION FOUNDED ON INTEGRITY MUST BE NURTURED BY TRUTH.
WE WILL NEVER BOW TO BABYLON.
