Death Threat: ‘El-Rufai Playing With Fire That’ll Consume Him’

Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has slammed the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, over his death threat to foreigners who attempt to interfere in the affairs of Nigeria.

Governor El-Rufai had on Tuesday stated on national television that any foreign official who attempts to come to the country to intervene in the government’s affairs “will go back in body bags”.

The Governor was apparently reacting to the recent statements by the United States, United Kingdom and the European Union, calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to respect the rule of law after his suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, attracted widespread condemnation.

“Those that are calling for anyone to come and intervene in Nigeria, we are waiting for the person that will come and intervene. They will go back in body bags because nobody will come to Nigeria and tell us how to run our country,” El-Rufai had said on the National Television Authority (NTA).

But reacting to the governor’s remarks, Fani-Kayode said in a tweet: “You are planning to rig the election and you know that the only way you can possibly “win” is by announcing fake results. You threaten foreigners that any of them that interfere with ur rigging plans will go home in body bags. You are playing with fire and it will consume you!”
