‘Defend Your Country’– Sudan PM Tells His People After Soldiers Attempt Another Coup

Sudanese soldiers have arrested the country’s Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok in an apparent coup plot.

At the moment, they have taking over Government-owned broadcast stations while arresting several members of staff.

The development is almost one month after the military failed to dethrone the country’s democratic institutions.

THE WHISTLER earlier reported that on September 21, an attempt by the military to seize power was aborted, according to persons familiar with developments in the country.

But on Monday, the Ministry of Information stated via social media that the military staged coup and apprehended the PM because he distanced himself from their earlier plot.

Aljazeera reports that the ministry said on Monday that Hamdok urged the Sudanese people to “defend their revolution.

“Joint military forces have stormed the TV and radio headquarters in Omdurman and detained a number of staff,” the ministry stated.

Furthermore, the military have announce a national state of emergency while dissolving the country’s Government.
