Democracy Day: Security Cordons Roads Around Abuja

A combined team of security personnel has cordoned off all roads leading to the Eagle Square, Abuja, the venue of the 2019 Democracy Day celebration.

The security operatives comprising the Police, Army, Federal Road Safety Corps and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps were seen manning every major junction around the Central Area.

To ease the movement of invited guests to the venue of the event, buses were provided at the Old Parade Ground to the Eagle square.

Around the Federal secretariat, no private or commercial vehicles were around beyond the central mosque bridge on Constitution Avenue and Finance Bridge on Independence Avenue.

Within the Eagle Square, only designated buses and dignitaries were allowed into the venue.

Also, only accredited persons and invited guests with invitation cards were allowed to access the venue.

The Presidential Planning Committee for the June 12 Democracy Day Celebration on Tuesday announced road diversion for Wednesday’s occasion.

The diversion according to the committee would start from Water Board/Deeper Life Junction; Aso Drive by DSS Headquarters-DPO Mpape; FCDA by Finance Headquarters; Bayelsa House; Gana-Transcorp Hilton and other adjoining road.
