Derasoft Consulting, The Whistler Organise Intensive Digital Skills Training For Youths

Derasoft Consulting, in partnership with The Whistler Communications Limited, has invited interested candidates to take advantage of a six-week training on digital and leadership skills. 

During the bootcamp tagged ‘CodeCamp for Youths’, participants would be equipped with online entrepreneurial, creative and problem-solving skills. 

In a statement on Friday, organisers of the programme, #CodeCamp, said the training would not just be about coding, but also about equipping young people with belief, ability and necessary leadership skills to be ahead of the pack in the future economy. 

The organizers noted that the coronavirus lockdown had accelerated the shift towards digitally-focused careers, adding that it had long been recognised as important that youths must start to understand the technology they will use in their work and daily lives.

The statement added that imparting digital skills was much more than teaching specific coding languages, adding that logical thinking and meta-skills such as mind-mapping and goal-setting developed during digital education, prepare young people to take their place in society as knowledgeable individuals instead of passive consumers.

“Building young people’s digital skills is not just a nice-to-have, it’s a need-to-have.

“There’s still a lot of uncertainties out there, but one thing is for sure: digital skills are critical to help inspire and train the next generation of leaders, as well as to equip young people of today with the tools for a more tech-forward future. We believe passionately in the value of keeping our young people coding, for today, and the future, ” said the statement.

The immersive training would cover the following areas:

1. Fundamentals of IT Leadership
   1. Working in a team
   2. Goal setting
   3. Empathy
2. Full Stack Web development
   1. Server setup
   2. HTML and CSS
   3. PHP
   4. AJAX
   5. Bootstrap
   6. MySQl

The first batch of candidates would commence training on Monday August 10th, 2020.
