Former Aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode on Monday met his bail conditions granted him by a Federal High Court in Lagos, last week Monday.

This was according to a statement by his media aide Mr. Jude Ndukwe, who added that the director of media and publicity in the campaign organisation of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has met his bail condition and has submitted all necessary documents to the Federal High Court in Lagos.

However, Fani-Kayode is yet to regain his freedom, as he is still awaiting the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to confirm the documents and facilitate his release, the statement added.

“Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has met all the conditions for his bail and the relevant documents have been duly filed and submitted at the Federal High Court in Lagos,” Ndukwe said.

“We are now waiting for the EFCC to verify the documents after which he would be released. Despite the fact that he has been locked up for the last 62 days he remains confident, strong, healthy and in very high spirits.

“He misses his family very badly, especially his five-month-old son Aragon, and he looks forward to coming home to be with his family, friends and loved ones.”

Recall that Fani-Kayode was arraigned alongside Nenadi Usman, a former finance minister, and Danjuma Yusuf on money laundering charges.

They were granted bail by a Federal High Court in Lagos, in the sum of N250 million each on Monday, July 4th.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had slammed on the defendants, a 17-count charge bordering on unlawful retention, unlawful use and unlawful payment of money to the tune of N4.9 billion.

Meanwhile, reports suggest there are indications that the anti-graft agency wants to press fresh charges against him as a reason to keep holding him.
