Disillusion As Police Take Over APC Secretariat For Second Day

Staff of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were on Friday shut out from entering the secretariat for the second day as detachment of policemen barricade the entrance of secretariat.

The policemen, who first took over the party’s secretariat on Wednesday evening after the federal high court in Abuja ordered the suspension of the party’s national chairman, Adams Oshiohmole, could be seen at the party’s gate turning back anyone or vehicles approaching it.

But another high court in Kano on Thursday added a new twist to the crisis as it purported to reverse the judgement of the Abuja court, and ordered that Oshiohmole be regarded as national chairman, and asked the Inspector General of Police to provide the chairman his security details.

THE WHISTLER observed that the staff of the party wore looks of dissatisfaction and were seen discussing in small groups outside the secretariat as security operatives ordered that they move far from the premises of the party.

A staff of the party, who preferred anonymity said he was not surprised at the presence of the security men, saying it was a bad development for the ruling party. He blamed the crisis rocking the party on Oshiohmole and accused him of high handedness.

He further noted that nothing could stop the chairman from leaving office as he had fallen out of favour with most governors under the party’s platform.

According to other staff who were heard speaking in low tunes, Oshiohmole was being expected to be at the secretariat on Friday but was yet to arrive as at 2pm.

The staff expressed disillusion at the turn things have taken, saying the development may affect the party in future elections if the problems were not resolved quickly.

Some of them feared that Oshiomole may be prevented from entering the secretariat as the order for barricading the premises was from the IGP in order to prevent crisis.
