DJ Cuppy Shades Davido, ‘I Don’t Brag About My Father’s Wealth’

Billionaire magnate, Femi Otedola’s daughter, Florence, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, says her success is a result of her hardwork and not her father’s name.

In a chat with E-Daily on Monday, DJ Cuppy said though she is the daughter of a billionaire, but her dad’s name rarely opens doors for her.

In what appears to be a shade on popular Nigerian singer, Davido, DJ Cuppy, who is one of Africa’s most celebrated DJs, said she doesn’t utilize her father’s influence to get things done like the “If” crooner does.

“Unlike Davido who said I am ‘omo baba olowo’ (OBO), take it or leave it! I’m not that kind of person, he was smart though, because before you can even do anything, he has already told you he is the son of a millionaire,” she said

“People have to understand that just because I was born into my family does not mean that it opens all doors that is everyone’s outside perspective.

“My inside perspective is just being someone’s child; how can being someone’s child be used against you?

“I can walk into a room and before I even open my mouth, everyone has decided, and it’s like you are not giving a young woman a chance to even prove herself.

“The only difference between Davido and I is that he decided to use the influence as an advantage from an early stage.”

Ms Otedola, who successfully completed her Master’s Degree at New York University in 2016, is the most decorated female DJ in Nigeria. She recently won the New York University Alumni Artistic Award in Entertainment.

Asides a blossoming disc jockey career, Cuppy’s new single “Green Light” featuring Tekno, has been making waves since its release in October, 2017.
