Dowen College: Ijaw Youths Mourn Sylvester Oromoni

Ijaw Youth Council World Wide has announced a candle light procession for the late Sylvester Oromoni, the 12-year-old student of Dowen College, Lagos State who died after fellow students allegedly assaulted him.

The announcement was contained in a letter signed by the President General of IYC, Timothy Igbifa, dated 6, December, 2021.

The letter directed all Ijaw youths across the world to hold the procession by 7pm today Tuesday across the world in honour of Sylvester Oromoni.

The Council extends it condolence to the family of the deceased boy , urging them to stay strong.

“It is very painful but we pray the Almighty God will grant him solace in his bosom, while the family finds grace to bear this great loss,” the group prayed.

The death of Oromoni came to light after his cousin, @perrisonoromoni on Twitter, posted pictures announcing that he had died after being “beaten to death at a school that cost over 1 million naira”.

He also posted a video of the deceased in pain, crying and mentioning the names of some fellow students presumed to be the alleged perpetrators of the torture.

The video shows the deceased crying severely and bleeding from the mouth, while mentioning names.
