Driver Loses Control, Kills Woman In Anambra

A Toyota Highlander with registration number LSD931BL yesterday killed a middle-aged woman opposite Green Gate Estate, along Nkwere-33 road, in Anambra State. The accident occurred at about 3.45pm, according to the Anambra State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps.

THE WHSITLER gathered that the driver of the Toyota Highlander lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speeding, and rammed into the woman, who was standing by the roadside, killing her instantly.

According to the sector command’s public education officer in the state, RC Pascal Anigbo, “The corpse of the dead was deposited at Apex Hospital Mortuary, Nkwelle, by the FRSC rescue team from Nteje Unit Command, while the driver was arrested by the police and taken to 33 Police Station.”

Meanwhile, the sector commander of the FRSC, Anambra State, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi, while sympathizing with the family of the deceased, warned drivers against over-speeding, especially within built-up areas, adding that, “Drivers should always drive defensively while also applying common sense speed limits.”
