DSS Orders Probe Into Killing Of Policeman By Its Personnel In Osun

Rauf Fawale was allegedly killed by some members of the Department of State Services (DSS) last week in Osun State.

But on Wednesday, the indicted unit is seeking probe into the killing.

Earlier, the state Commissioner of Police, Wale Olokode, disclosed that the deceased had sustained a head injury after being attacked by three DSS men around Oke Fia on January 14.

The wife and father of the deceased had confirmed to newsmen that Fawale was attacked by three DSS personnel for unknown reasons.

It was reported that following the incident, the deceased was rushed to the state University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.

The late Fawale had died on January 24, after spending about 10 days at the hospital. The wife, Ballikis, disclosed that the deceased was smashed on the head.

Speaking on Wednesday, the spokesperson, DSS, Peter Afunnaya said:

“The attention of the Department of State Services (DSS) has been drawn to the incident that led to the death of a Police Corporal in Osun State. Consequently, the Service and the Police are jointly investigating the matter.

“The public should rest assured that it will not condone any acts of indiscipline or injustice. It, therefore, calls on the media and other stakeholders to exercise patience and await the outcome of the investigations”.

The state commissioner has also requested the DSS to identified its personnel who perpetrated the act.
