Multiple reports have it that Abaribe was arrested following his alleged inability to produce Nnamdi Kanu, leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who he stood surety for, and for his constant criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.

Abaribe and two others had stood as a surety as part of the bail conditions for Kanu, whose whereabouts has remained unknown.

Meanwhile, the senator’s lawyer, Chukwuma-Machukwu Ume (SAN), said on Sunday that all efforts by the family, his physician and himself to see Abaribe had been denied by security operatives.

“We have made all attempts through official channels for his doctor, family members and myself to see him and up till this moment after visiting the DSS headquarters in Abuja to look for him we still don’t have any information about him since the security people left with him at about 11.30pm after searching his house on Friday,” he told This Day.
