Eddie Iroh In A Facebook Post Carpets Buhari On SGF, NIA Probe

Are you guys telling me that there is no one in Abuja who has the balls to tell Aso Rock that they cannot be judge and jury in their own court in a case which directly involves them? The $50 million scandal involves the National Intelligence Agency [NIA]; the N9 billion Grass-cutter question over the Presidential Initiative on the North East [PINE] hangs over the head of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation [SGF].

Both the NIA and the Office of the SGF are part and parcel of the Presidency. The DG of NIA and the SGF report directly to the President of the Federal Republic. How on earth then can the president set up a panel made up of HIS  deputy, the VP, HIS Attorney General and HIS National Security Adviser to investigate the two scandals? In other words the Presidency is to investigate itself and adjudicate in its own case, am I correct? And no one felt any need to suggest a single outsider, a human rights lawyer like Femi Falana or Olisa Agbakoba, both of them SANs, for instance to join the panel? And no one had the balls to say to the President that the panel as constituted will appear to the public as a cover up even though no one doubts the integrity of the three panelists, simply because in politics appearance can often be taken for reality.

You can see why people like me do not have a dog’s chance of serving in any capacity in this Government. Because I will tell the President that this exercise lacks transparency and the result will lack credibility. And if the President fires me for this, I will pack my bag and return to my base in UK, even if I have to hitch-hike across the Sahara Desert or even join one of the migrant ships off the North African coast. The truth is worth that risk.
