The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday arraigned the former governor of Adamawa State, Barrister Bala James Ngillari over N160 million contracts.
The anti-graft agency also arraigned a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ibrahim Welye, and former finance Commissioner, Barrister Sanda Lamurde before Justice Nathan Musa of the Adamawa State High Court, sitting in Yola.
The trio are facing a 17-count charge, ranging from criminal conspiracy to award of contract for purchase of 25 cars at the cost of N160 million without following due process.
According to the commission, the accused allegedly awarded the contract without obtaining the certificate of ‘No Objection’ from the state procurement agency.
They all pleaded ‘not guilty’ when the charges were read to them.
