The accused were arraigned before Justice Danjuma Yusuf of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi and pleaded not guilty to the 17 counts charges brought against them by the EFCC.

At the initial hearing, the judge could not rule on the applications because the EFCC prosecutor, Rotimi Oyedepo, said he received the bail application for Nenadi Usman and Danjum Yussuf only the day before being Monday, June 28, 2016, and he has not prepared his response.

Although he received Mr. Fani-Kayode’s application some days earlier, the judge, Justice Hassan, said he cannot rule on bail applications individually.

Fani-Kayode and Nenadi Usman, alongside Yussuf are facing charges bordering on unlawful retention, use, and payments of money in the sum of N4.6 billion.
