The former comptroller-general of Nigeria Immigration Service, David Parradang is currently undergoing interrogation by EFCC investigators.

Parradang, who was first suspended by President Buhari and later replaced, following the arrest of a known terrorist, ‘Ahmad al-Assir’ at Beirut’s Rafik Hariri International Airport in lebanon while trying to travel with a valid Nigerian visa on a fake Lebanese passport.

Although it was reported in some quarters that Paraddang got the boot due to his “deliberate disregard to the extant laws, insubordination to constituted authority and improper behaviour inimical to the Service that is unbecoming of a public officer.”

According to sources, the ex immigration boss who arrived the Abuja office of the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) by 10:am on Monday is being grilled over different allegations of corruption during his tenure as CG of Immigrations.

The scope of EFCC’s investigation of Parading is still unclear as at the time of filing this report. But chief among the allegations leveled against him is the 2014 NIS tragic recruitment exercise, where applicants were made to pay N1,000 each. An amount reportedly paid by over 6000 applicants and the realized sum believed to have been diverted without providing proper logistics for the exercise which resulted in the stampede that claimed the lives of over a dozen job seekers.

The Immigration service under Parradang had distanced itself from the tragic recruitment claiming the Interior Ministry handled the exercise.

Parradang is also said to have illegally recruited over 1600 immigration staff.
