EFCC Says Bawa ‘Felt Unwell’ But Back To Work

The Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC), has said its Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, is hale and hearty.

This comes few hours after he was reported to have slumped and later hospitalized.

The incident happened while he was giving a speech at the third National Identity Day celebration at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa.

But the Head, Media and Publicity for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, in a statement said, “The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa is hale and hearty.

“This clarification became necessary following an incident today September 16, 2021 at the Presidential Villa, Abuja where he was giving a goodwill message to the National Identity Day celebration, felt unwell and had to return to his seat.

“He has since received medical attention and is due back at his desk.”

Some government officials had similarly collapsed while at public functions in the past.

The Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mariam Katagum, in July 2021 collapssed in Bauchi State.

The Aide-de-Camp to Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, had also collapsed during the governor’s second-term inauguration in Benin City.
