EFCC Website Shut Down As Anonymous Continues Cyberattacks

Anonymous has continued its onslaught of cyberattacks on online assets of the Nigerian Government by shutting down the website of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

A visit to the website of the anti-corruption agency on Saturday morning showed that it was offline.

The hacker group, which said it was carrying out the attacks in solidarity with Nigerians protesting police brutality and bad governance, had confirmed the attack in a tweet.

Anonymous also said it had taken down the website of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), but checks by THE WHISTLER on Saturday morning showed that it was back online as of 9:14 am.

The hacker group had earlier announced that it had taken down the website of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), while also carrying out a DDoS attack on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) website.

The NPF website has continued to remain offline about four days after it was brought down by Anonymous.
