Eid-el-Kabir: FG Declares Monday, Tuesday Public Holidays

To mark the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Federal Government has declared Monday and Tuesday, September 12 and September 13 as public holidays.

The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, in a statement signed by the acting Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Muhammadu Maccido, in Abuja on Wednesday.

According to the statement, Dambazau urged Nigerians to support the diversification agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari to deliver the country’s economy from the current economic challenges the nation was facing.

He said that the government is aware of the present economic downturn stressing that the government is working to‎ revitalise the agriculture sector and the ‘Youth Empowerment Scheme’ in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

The minister further urged all to continue to support the government toward building a new formidable Nigeria.

Other areas of priority to the government, according to him, included the “The “Change Begins with Me”, a value re-orientation programme, and other social intervention programmes as well as massive capital releases.
