Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has said he would not hesitate to show any of his newly appointed commissioners the way out if they fail to perform as expected in their various ministries.
El-Rufai who handed down the warning while swearing-in 13 out of the 15 commissioner nominees forwarded to the State Assembly for confirmation, advised the new state executive council members to settle down and deliver quick results.
He noted that each of the commissioners would be made to sign a performance agreement with the top management of their ministries.

Recall that during the screening of the nominees, the assembly rejected one of them, Jafaaru Abubakar, for criticizing the All Progressives Congress, APC administration in the state on his Facebook handle in 2017.
In the interim, El-Rufai also mandated his deputy, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, to take charge of the State Ministry of Health pending the appointment of a substantive commissioner for the ministry.
This was just as he vowed to fire any commissioner who cannot discharge his official responsibilities on a quarterly basis, urging them to assume duty with immediate effect.
While saying that the commissioners would sign a “Key Performance Indicators and Performance Agreement” with top management of their ministries, the governor said: “The new commissioners must quickly settle in and deliver results.
“Each of you will receive and adhere to job descriptions that will be followed by Key Performance Indicators and Performance Agreements.
“Every commissioner must, in turn, sign KPIs and Performance Agreements with the top management of their ministries.
“All are subject to strict quarterly reviews, because we must maximise the short time left to deliver service for our people.”
The governor also warned family members and associates of the new commissioners against asserting undue pressure on them.
“Family members and associates must realise that the commissioners would need their support.
“We thank you for the sacrifice you would make, but we urge you not to pressurize them,” he added.
The commissioners sworn-in are: Ja’afaru Ibrahim Sani (Ministry of Local Government Affairs); Idris Samaila Nyam (Business, Innovation & Technology); Shehu Usman Makarfi (Education); Ibrahim Garba Hussaini (Environment & Natural Resources); Kabir Mato (Sports Development); Balaraba Aliyu-Inuwa (Public Works & Infrastructure); and Samuel Aruwan (Internal Security & Home Affairs).
Others are, Fausat Adebola Ibikunle (Housing & Urban Development); Mohammed Bashir Saidu (Finance); Hafsat Mohammed-Baba (Human Services & Social Development); Aisha Dikko (Justice); Thomas Gyang (Planning and Budget); as well as Hassan Mahmud (Commissioner in the governor’s office for Riots, Damage, Rehabilitation and Resettlement).
According to reports, the governor commended members of the State House of Assembly for “the speedy confirmation of the commissioner-nominees.”
