Electricity: Power Outage To Last 10 Days As Gencos Experience Low Gas Supply

The current power outage experienced across the country has been projected by the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, to last for 10 days.

This was according to a statement by the company’s spokesperson Ndidi Mba, saying all thermal power plants were experiencing low gas supply.

Mba noted that the low gas supply to Sapele NIPP, Olorunsogo NIPP, Ihovbor NIPP and Azura Edo power plants have restrained optimal generation.

“Other thermal power plants equally affected but which generated lower capacities include Egbin (Steam), Sapele (Steam), Delta (gas), Geregu (gas), Omotosho(gas), Olorunsogo (gas), Geregu NIPP, Alaoji NIPP, Omotosho NIPP, Odukpani NIPP, Okpai (Gas/Steam) and Omoku (gas) power generating plants.

Following the low supply of gas, TCN reduced the quantum of power transmitted to the various distribution companies for onward supply to electricity consumers across Nigeria.
