#End SARS: Lagos Losses Over N239.4m From Lekki Toll Gate Shutdown

The ongoing #EndSARS protest has cost the Lagos State Government at least N239.4m as a result of the toll gates closure.

Since the protests started, the Lekki tollgate has been completely shut, while the Ikoyi axis has been left permanently open for people to use without payment.

The State expects the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge to generate a minimum of N10m daily.

The tolls are managed by the Lekki Conssession Company.

The Admiralty Circle Plaza at the Lekki-Epe Expressway is also projected to generate a daily minimum of N16.6m.

Tolls at the Admiralty Plaza ranges between N200 to N100, while the Ikoyi-Link Bridge, toll cost a minimum of N400.

“At least 80,000 cars use the tollgates every day. The figure could be higher or lower depending on the day of the week. However, since the protests started, the Lekki tollgate has been completely shut, while the Ikoyi one has been left permanently open for people to use without payment,” an unnamed Lagos commissioner told PUNCH.

The EndSARS protest had led to huge passenger traffic, while drivers are counting loss.
