Ending Poverty, Food Insecurity: Nigeria Hosts 2016 African Economic Conference

The 2016 African Economic Conference (AEC) has been scheduled to take place from December 5 to 7 in Abuja, the Federal Capital of Nigeria.
Tagged “Feeding Africa: Towards Agro-Allied Industrialization for Inclusive Growth”, the 2016 AEC follows the latest African and international development agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which intends to permanently end poverty, hunger and food insecurity in Africa, as endorsed by UN member States in September 2015.
The event, which is jointly organised by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will provide an avenue to discuss agricultural transformation in Africa.

At the 2016 AEC, organisations will be educated on how to leverage agro-industrialisation for feeding Africa and promoting inclusive growth using latest empirical evidence.
The last African Economic Conference took place in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. It was tagged “Addressing Poverty and Inequality in the Post 2015 Development Agenda”.
