#EndSARS: Adegboruwa Accuses Lagos Govt Of Cover-Up In White Paper

A member of the Lagos Judicial panel of inquiry, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, SAN, has accused the Lagos State government of filling its White paper on the EndSARS Lekki Toll Gate report with cover-ups and inconsistencies.

His statement via his Facebook page on Wednesday is coming almost 24 hours after the state government had described the findings and conclusion of the judicial panel as “totally unreliable” and “unacceptable.”

The Government had maintained that it is unable to accept the finding that nine (9) people died of gunshot wounds because the judicial panel report did not provide sufficient evidence to arrive at its conclusion.

Reacting to the state government’s position, Adegboruwa stated that the White paper is inaccurate, but he added that the general public should await the collective response of the panel.

“It has become necessary therefore for me and all other members of the Panel to study the White Papers and make appropriate responses thereto. There will be no holds barred, since the government itself has opened the doors for public scrutiny of the report and the white papers.

“At the appropriate time, we will respond to all the inaccuracies, the coverups and the inconsistencies contained in the White Papers released by the government.

“Assuredly, nothing can ever cover the truth,” he stated.

The senior lawyer also expressed disappointment at the way the government is talking down on what he described as the sacrificial efforts of the panel who had “given up their time, families and careers for a whole year” to serve.

“For the records, the Panel relied upon the evidence of witnesses, documents tendered before it and the goodwill of the people of Nigeria, throughout its assignment,” Adegboruwa stated.
