#EndSARS: APC Accuses PDP Of Sponsoring Protests, Playing Politics

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has fired back at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for saying the ruling party should take responsibility over the shooting and killing of #EndSARS protesters in Lekki, Lagos State, on Tuesday night.

The party accused the PDP and its leaders of directly and indirectly sponsoring the protests and playing politics with the development.

PDP, in a statement, had charged President Muhammadu Buhari and his party, the APC, to take responsibility for the incidents.

The opposition party had also noted that if the president had given a well-structured governance response, it would have calmed frayed nerves averted the violence and destruction to lives and property.

But the APC in a response by its Spokesman, Yekini Nabena, said it would not take issues with the PDP in the direction the #EndSARS protests had taken.

Nabena accused Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, of sponsoring protesters with the sum of N4million.

The response of the APC camen a few days after its Caretaker Committee Chairman, Mai Mala Buni, alleged that there was a hidden agenda in the nationwide protests against the police brutality, harassment and extr-judicial killings, allegedly perpetrated by now disbanded SARS unit of the force.

The spokesman said: “The party will rather place on record how PDP and it’s leaders are directly and indirectly sponsoring the protest and playing politics with the development.

“Since the protest started, the PDP elements have taken over the social media making various unguarded assertions thereby fueling the protest.

“It is on record that one of the leaders of #EndSARS protest in Akwa Ibom State three days ago publicly admitted that the state governor, Udom Emmanuel, gave N4 million for onward sharing to the protesting youth in Uyo, the state capital.

“Kufre Carter, one of the organisers of the protest reportedly said he got a call from the governor’s aide on youth matters whom he said told him that the governor gave N4 million to be shared to the protesters.

“The APC caretaker committee chairman, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has righly noted the hidden agenda in the #EndSARS protests.

“Like our chairman said all leaders (including PDP leaders) should know that it is only when the country exists in peace that one can achieve their goals, you cannot be a leader through chaos, it will not be well.”

He finally appealed to the protesting youths to give dialogue and peace a chance.
