An Osun State Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo has ordered that two females should be remanded in Ilesha Correctional Facility for alleged attempt to murder Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
The two accused persons: Suliyat Tajudeen (20yrs) and Ayomide Abdulazeez (20yrs) were arraigned on counts of conspiracy, attempted murder, malicious damage and burglary.
The police prosecutor, Mr John Idoko, informed the court that Suliyat, Ayomide and others now at large on the 17th day of October 2020, at about 4:30pm did conspire among themselves to attempt killing the Osun State Governor, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola by firing guns and throwing stones at him.
The prosecutor told the court the accused persons unlawfully damage 17 vehicles in the governor’s convoy.
He added that they burgled Justrite Mall and stole laptops, mobile phones and phone accessories valued at N3,568,000, property of Ashiru Ibrahim Olayemi.
However, the two accused person pleaded not guilty to the five counts preferred against them by the police.
Counsel for the two accused persons, Nurudeen Kareem, made an oral bail application for his clients assuring the magistrate they would provide reliable sureties.
The prosecutor opposed the bail application saying, if they are granted bail, they will run away because the accused persons know that the police had overwhelming evidence against them.
The Chief Magistrate, Dr Olusegun Ayilara, ordered that the two accused person be remanded in Ilesha Correctional Facility.
He adjourned the case to November 20, 2020, for ruling on bail.
