#EndSARS: No One Shot At Buhari When He Protested Under Jonathan – Moghalu

A former Presidential aspirant, Kingsley Moghalu, on Wednesday, recalled that during the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan, President Muhammadu Buhari joined protesters in a march without being harassed by security officials.

He maintained that relevant authorities must now allow peaceful protests to reign, adding that that was part of democracy.

“Let’s not forget that during the presidency of @GEJonathan today’s President @MBuhari protested on the streets. No one shot him.

“Peaceful protest should not be met with arbitrary killings of protesters. #EndSARS,” he tweeted.

Also, the European Union had stressed that it was hopeful that the federal government would implement lasting reforms for various sectors of the country.

Recall that widespread protests had ensued following the brutal handling of Nigerians by some personnel of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force.

This led to its disbandment and subsequent creation of another Tactical Team, geared toward meeting the expectations of Nigerians.

Also, the President had assured Nigerians that his government was committed to implementing lasting reforms.

His media aide, Femi Adesina, had written, “The Presidency appeals for understanding and calm across the nation, as the implementation of the reforms gathers pace at Federal and State levels.

“The Presidency wishes to reiterate the full commitment of the Buhari Administration to the implementation of lasting Police reforms in Nigeria.”
