#EndSARS: Okowa Reviews Curfew In Delta

Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has reviewed the 48-hour curfew he imposed on the state on Thursday as a result of Wednesday’s arson and destruction of government property by hoodlums.

The hoodlums carried out the action in the guise of #EndSARS protesters.

Okowa, who had said the curfew would commence at 6pm on Thursday, also announced the closure of public and private primary and secondary schools in the state until November 2, 2020.

But, the governor, in a statement posted on his facebook page on Saturday, said the curfew would now expire by 6pm today Saturday.

However, he said from Saturday evening, the curfew would be in effect from 6pm to 8am till further notice.

The governor said earlier today, he received a comprehensive briefing on the security situation in the state from the three service commanders.

According to him, from Sunday, October 25, people are free to move around and go about their regular activities during the day.

He thanked the people of the state, particularly the youths, for complying with the curfew.

He said: “This morning, I received a comprehensive briefing on the security situation across Delta State from the three Service Commanders.

“Having analysed the situation critically, I wish to thank all Deltans, particularly our youths, for complying with the curfew that was imposed two days ago.

“The current 48-hour curfew will expire by 6pm today Saturday, October 24th, 2020.

“However, from this evening, the curfew will be in effect from 6pm to 8am till further notice. From Sunday, October 25, people are free to move around and go about their regular activities during the day.

“I urge all the citizens and residents of our great state, Delta, to please remain calm, vigilant and law abiding at all times.”
