#EndSARS: Police Give Excuse For Delaying Proceedings, Say ‘We’re Stuck In Third Mainland Bridge Traffic’

Tuesday’s proceedings of the Lagos State judicial panel of inquiry investigating police brutality and the Lekki toll gate shooting incident have been delayed by the police.

The panel said this while explaining delay in commencing activities scheduled for the day.

The panel said in a tweet, “We started our 11pm Tuesday sitting rather late today because of the Police respondents who were stuck in today’s third mainland bridge traffic. All the cases lined up for today are about them and it was imperative we waited. Session is progressing & it’s well worth the wait.”

The panel is expected to treat four petitions filed against operatives of the disbanded Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad by victims of police brutality.

Recall that lawyers for the Nigeria Police had stalled proceedings of the panel on Friday, citing inability to trace officers involved in petitions scheduled for hearing for that day.
