His mother also accompanied him.

The chairman of the panel, Justice Doris Okuwobi (Rtd), presided over the matter.

He said that the officials refused to tell him his offense despite the torture they subjected him to.

“On February 16,2018, I was at my shop at Alaba around 2pm when they came to my shop and handcuffed me.

“Before they did, I asked them what my crime was… everyone was also shouting at them to show their Identity cards.

“So they brought out their SARS uniform and one brought his gun and began to shoot, and others ran away.

” They said that it was the Inspector General of Police that sent them to arrest me.

“Then they were taking me to the Ikeja station, but along the way, they came out to have some discussion, and such, I used one of my hands free from handcuff to call my mother with my phone.

“One of the officials caught me making the call, he snatched the phone from me and stabbed me with a knife and hit my head with a gun.

“When we got to the station, they collected my 58,000 naira in my pocket and pushed me inside the cell; they tortured me and later chained my hands and legs.

“They took me back to my shop at Alaba, broke into it and sold my phone accessories and then they forced me up to two storey building and pushed me from there.

“I did not get myself…,” he said.

He added that he was later refered to different hospitals for treatment and that he and his family bore the expenses.

The panel later adjourned till November 13 for continuation of hearing.
