EndSARS: We Are Vindicated—DJ Switch Speaks On Panel Report

A popular Nigerian Disc Jockey, Catherine Udeh, professionally known as DJ Switch, has reacted to the report by the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry.

DJ Switch stated that the outcome of the panel has vindicated her and other victims of SARS related abuses and other matters.

According to the report submitted by the panel, no fewer than nine persons were confirmed dead at the Lekki toll plaza on the night soldiers stormed there to disperse #EndSARS protesters on October 20, 2020.

This was made known by the Justice Doris Okuwobi-led panel in its report submitted to the Lagos State Government on Monday.

With the title, ‘Report of Lekki Incident Investigation Of 20th October 2020’, the panel said at least 48 protesters were either shot dead, injured with bullet wounds, or assaulted by soldiers.

According to the Report, nine protesters were confirmed dead, while four were presumed dead. The panel listed 48 names as casualties of the incident.

Among the 48, about 20 sustained gunshot injuries, while 13 others were assaulted by the military.

Reacting to the findings of the panel, DJ Switch took to her verified Twitter page and wrote, “Shattered so many lives, tried to destroy mine. Only for what you desperately tried to hide to be made public by you! The truth needs no defense #EndSARS.”

The Disc Jockey gained more prominence last year when she took to her Instagram page to do a live coverage that showed protesters being shot at by personnel of the Nigerian Army at the Lekki Toll Gate during the #EndSARS protest that rocked the nation last year.

Most Nigerians praised her for being brave, while some called her names. The DJ had claimed that she is on the run from the Nigerian government.

Applauding DJ Switch, activist Rinu took to her verified Twitter page stating that the event of October 20, 2020, changed and halted her life.

She tweeted, “DJ Switch suffered for over a year on the Lekki massacre. Career and life halted, embarrassed, trolled, hounded out of her home, her country, everything she had going nicely, stopped. All because she was brave enough to stand, document the kïllings and say the truth.”

Also, another On-Air Personality, Do2dtun in his tweet said, “We failed you @dj_switchaholic but we the true ones will always love you.

“One day, you will jump on that plane, come back home, and be part of the system that liberates our mind. Thank you very much #EndSARS.”
