Also a petition calling for a bank holiday has already gathered more than 325,000 signatures.

Abingdon Primary School & Children Centre in the UK said children can stay up to 11.00am on Monday to help them recover after watching the match late on Sunday.

The match will begin by 8.00pm and will be over by 10.00pm if the winner emerges after the regular 90 minutes.

But if the match is dragged to extra time and a possible penalty shoot-out, the match could end by 11.00pm.

“If your child is a football fan and likely to watch the final, then let them stay in bad a bit longer and come to school by 11.00am on Monday. We would rather have children rested and in school ready to learn than absent all day or grumpy!” the school said in a notice seen by THE WHISTLER.

It added that school will still open the usual 8.30am but children arriving by 11.am will not be marked late.

Another school, Malin Bridge Primary School’s headmaster Robbie McGrath wrote in a letter to parents that “I’m sure that, like me, many of you are exceptionally excited about Sunday’s Euro 2020 (but in 2021) final.

“Consequently, we understand that parents may want to bring their children in late on Monday, as they will have had a late night.”

In a Facebook post, Coates Lane Primary School said, “If your child is a football fan and likely to be staying up until after 11pm on Sunday to watch the Final, then let them stay in bed a bit longer and get to school by 10.30am on Monday.”
