‘Ensure You Beat Cameroun’, Kanu Nwankwo Charges Eagles

Legendary Nigerian striker Nwankwo Kanu has charged the Super Eagles to defeat the Indomitable Lions of Cameroun in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification match scheduled to hold at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Friday.

In a 45 seconds video clip uploaded on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) official Twitter handle, Kanu urged the Coach Gernot Rohr-led side to have the belief that they can do it.

“Hello, my name is Kanu Nwankwo, aka Papilo, the ambassador of Nigerian football,” Kanu began.

The former Eagles Captain expressed his confidence that Nigeria senior football team can beat the African football Champions in Friday’s battle.

“I know my team; the Nigerian Super Eagles can beat the Cameroonian team. I want them to believe they can do it and they should make sure they do,” he stated.

The two-time African Footballer of the Year (1996,1999) who was also in the Eagles team that defeated Cameroon 2-1 in the quarter-final of the Tunisia 2004 Africa Cup of Nations, urged the Nigerian football fans to rise up and play their own big role for the team to get the desired result against the reigning African champions.

“For the fans, the supporters out there, please let us get behind them (Super Eagles). Support them and give them all that they want from us. Wish them all the best. Thank you and God bless you. Up Super Eagles!”

The Eagles lead Group B on 6 points after two games, while Cameroon are second on 2 points after the same number of games.

Zambia are third on 1 point and Algeria occupy the bottom position also on 1 point.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwean Brighton Mudzamiri, who will be referee assessor in Friday’s FIFA World Cup qualifying match between Nigeria and Cameroon in Uyo, is already in the country.

Other match officials, to be led by Referee Ibrahim Ghead Grisha, will arrive in Nigeria on Wednesday.

Grisha will take charge at the centre, while Moroccan official Redouane Achik will serve as Assistant Referee 1 and Sudanese Waleed Ahmed Ali will be Assistant Referee 2.

Grisha’s compatriot, Mahmoud Zakaria, Mohamed El Banna will serve as Reserve Referee.
Mr. Jean Medard Kossa, from Congo Brazzaville will be match commissioner.
