Enugu LG polls: PDP Will Lose Due To Demolition Of Houses – APA Candidate

The demolition of ‘illegal structures’ carried out by the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State has been cited as a strong reason why the party would not do well in the forthcoming local government elections in the state.

Chairmanship candidate of the African People’s Alliance in Enugu South Local Government Area of the state, Barr. Chukwunonso Ogbeh, stated this in an interview with THE WHISTLER in Enugu on Tuesday.

Ogbeh, who was reacting to a question on the chances of his party in the coming local council election, said the electorate would vote for his party because the residents want an alternative to PDP.

“The goodwill PDP enjoys in Enugu State is dwindling going by many factors, such as the demolition exercise that the state government embarked on because it did not factor the economic realities on the ground. The electorate are looking for alternatives, and the APA has come to fill the vacuum.

“Again, many roads in Enugu South LGA are in a terrible condition. There are some strategic roads that should be fixed, such as Meniru and Akukwe roads. Most of the problems we have are caused by influential godfathers. Those that I will report to are the people. I won’t work with those that will set us back. Allocations to Enugu South LGA will be for Enugu South people. I am a youth and have my future to protect.”

Ogbeh said if elected, he would serve his people selflessly.

He expressed mixed feelings on the impartiality of the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission, but called on the electorate to avoid apathy, stating that his party would go to court if there is any need.
