Enugu Rangers Suspend Coach Amapakabo

The decision follows Sunday’s 2-2 draw between the Flying Antelope and Zesco United, in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup play-off at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

Amapakabo was last week given a final ultimatum by the club to win the match against the Zambian side or get sacked.

The Peoples Elephant, who won the Nigeria Premier League last year, are languishing at the bottom of the league table.

A top official of the Enugu based club confirmed to Complete Sports that Amapakabo will definitely get fired if he fails to defeat Zesco.

However, the club decided to suspend the under-fire coach, with former Nigeria international, Sylvanus Okpala, drafted in to take charge of the team.

Rangers came into the game on the back of a poor run of form, but were two goal up in the second half before defensive frailties allowed Zesco to get back into the game.

The Flying Antelope will travel for the second leg at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, needing a win to qualify for the group stages of the competition.
