EPL: Man United End Watford’s 100% Start

Romelu Lukaku and Chris Smalling were on target as Manchester United defeated Watford 2-1 to hand the Hornets their first defeat of the Premier League season.

Lukaku diverted Ashley Young’s cross in via his chest before Chris Smalling fired home Marouane Fellaini’s knock-down.

Watford pulled a goal back midway through the second half through Andre Gray, after a much-improved second half.

Javi Garcia’s men mounted pressure on the visitors but were unable to find the equaliser.

Nemanja Matic was sent off in injury time after a mistimed challenge on Will Hughes saw him pick up his second booking of the game.

Jose Mourinho’s men have now won back-to-back games away from home, after losing two in a role previously.

The Red Devils go into the Champions League with more confidence as they travel to Switzerland to take on Young Boys in their first group game.
