EPL: Sanchez Late Penalty Fires Arsenal To 4th

Alexis Sanchez scored his fourth goal of the season as the Chilean converted a last-gasp penalty to give Arsenal a 1-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor.

Aaron Ramsey was pushed down by defender James Tarkowski in injury time and Sanchez smashed home the resulting spot-kick to move the Gunners up to fourth in the table ahead of Liverpool and Tottenham.

It was a repeat of last season’s meeting between the sides at the Emirates Stadium, when Chilean Sanchez slotted in a 98th-minute spot-kick to win the game. It was also the third consecutive time that the Gunners had grabbed a winner in stoppage-time against the Clarets.

Burnley have now lost just two Premier League games all season.

In the other game of the afternoon, Southampton handed struggling Everton a heavy defeat at Saint Mary’s.

Charlie Austin scored two second-half headers, while Dusan Tadic and Steven Davis were also on target to give the home side a 4-1 victory over the Toffees.
