Esthetician Explains How To Keep The Skin Glowing After Child Birth

After baby drops, some mothers lose the glowing skin they had before the pregnancy due to the changes their bodies experienced.

While many women flaunt the glow on their faces along with their baby bump throughout the nine months, a great percentage of pregnant women are not so lucky, as a result of the hormonal changes.

Exfoliate Your Skin


To keep your skin glowed up after childbirth, Popoola, said the first thing to do, pregnant or not is to develop a good exfoliating routine.

This, she said helps treatments during this process work better and faster, adding that there are lots of dead cells after birth and the only way out is to exfoliate.

Cleanse Your Skin


To ease structured skincare regimen, popoola suggested cleansing of the skin with an herbal body scrub which contains essentials like honey, grapeseed oil, evening prime rose, tamarind and sandal wood powder.

Use of Repair butter


The Cosmetics scientist explained that the use of this butter will help the skin to regenerate and restore elasticity, reduce inflammation, which she said is the main factor behind early aging of the skin.

“It helps to replenish collagen and repair damaged, delicate and mature skin as well as, protect it from damaging environmental elements that surround us everyday.”


She added that any product purchased must be rich in Vitamin A, C, D,E,F,B1,B2,B3, and folic acid to help in the prevention of stretchmarks during pregnancy.

Use Of Glowing Black Soap


According to Popoola, this black soap is usually infused with healthy essential oils that keeps the skin glowing during pregnancy.

Use of Lightweight facial serum


This, she said helps to regulate the excess oil production during this phase that can contribute to blemish buildups and acne.

She further advised that serum to be used should contain the following;

Naicinamide: To help retard photo ageing, and assist in even skin toning.
Hyaluronic: This he said will assist in binding moisture to the skin
Vitamin C: This will help in the reduction of wrinkles, protect against sun damages, and reduce hyperpigmentation.
