Drama has continued to unfold in the current edition of the European competition which had seen the eviction of two of the tournament’s favourites– France and Portugal, World Cup and Euro defending Champions respectively.

England and Germany have a long history of football but the English side still holds a narrow lead in their 32 meetings.

Germany have lost 15 of their 32 meetings, won 13 and drawn four.

During a friendly on May 14, 1938, England trashed the German side 6-3 and 5-1 in a FIFA World Cup in September 2001.

This makes England favourable team judging by previous meetings.

Their last encounter was in November 2017 which ended goalless.

With the atmosphere full of tension for both teams and their supporters, the game is expected to go either way, but many may give it to England.

Gareth Southgate, England’s manager, would have the services of players like Harry Maguire, Mason Mount, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Marcus Rashford, Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane.

Joachim Löw also boasts of Manuel Neuer, Ilkay Gundogan, Kai Havertz, Toni Kroos, Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane–players that would scare any team.

Both teams have fared differently since the start of the competition with Germany finishing in Group F as runner up while England topped Group D.

England’s journey so far has been smoother with a victory over Croatia, Czech Republic and a draw against Scotland in the Group D.

Managers are also divided in the argument over who takes the day in Wembley.

AS Roma coach and former Chelsea and Tottenham boss, Jose Mourinho, predicted a 2-1 win for England.

He said, “We’ll concede the first goal, but we’ll score and win. I think it is Harry Kane’s day.”
