Only three deaths had previously been reported outside mainland China – in Hong Kong, the Philippines and Japan, according to BBC reports.

Meanwhile, the death toll in China had risen to more than a thousand people, including medical officials.

The SARs-like virus which broke out from Wuhan, China has also infected over 60,000, as nations around the world are putting measures in place to contain the menace.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) had urged people to protect themselves by thoroughly washing the hand, covering the nose when sneezing or coughing as well as boiling meats properly.

THE WHISTLER reported that WHO had said that the virus was a ‘global emergency’.

The virus is said to be transmitted between humans and from animals to humans.
