Ex-Convicts Arrested Over Fresh Crimes In Anambra

One Anthony Okeke, 29 years old, and Chijioke Eliaja, 23 years old, both of Umuleri in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State were Friday arrested on an alleged involvement in crimes and other nefarious activities in the state.

THE WHISTLER gathered that the suspects were habitual offenders allegedly terrorizing the community since their release from the Nigerian Correctional Centre two months ago. Exhibits said to have been recovered in their possessions include one locally made revolver pistol and six cartridges.

CSP Haruna Mohammed, the police public relations officer, Anambra State Police Command, said Saturday that, “The arrest is in continuation of the efforts to stem the tide of crimes and other nefarious activities in the state. Police operatives attached to Otoucha Division in conjunction with local community vigilantes had on the 22/1/2021, at about 9:10pm, arrested the two robbery suspects at Umueri. They will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.”

Meanwhile, the command has reassured the public of adequate security while calling on them to provide intelligence reports to the police. It further advised criminals in the state to change their ways of livelihood or relocate out of the state.
