Ex-Gov Sule Lamido Asks Tinubu, Amaechi, Ngige To Speak Against Attacks On Fulani

Former Jigawa State governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has called on National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi and the Labour and Employment Minister, Chris Ngige, to speak out against attacks on Fulani herdsmen in the Southern parts of the country.

Lamido said the various attacks against Fulani herdsmen across the country is a backlash from President Muhammadu Buhari’s misrule and asked the men, who he claimed brought Buhari to power, to tell their people to stop the attacks.

The former governor and chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said Nigerians were disappointed at the poor governance being delivered by Buhari after offering very high expectations and are now venting their anger on Fulani people because they wrongly think that Buhari represents Fulani interest.

Lamido, a former foreign affairs minister, said on Thursday that not all Fulani people voted for Buhari, adding that Buhari was brought into power by Tinubu, Ngige and Rotimi Amaechi who mobilized their zones for him.

His words: “You can see I am Fulani but didn’t vote for Buhari and our party is completely different. It is the Yorubas and Tinubu, the Igbos and Ngige and the South South and Ameachi, they were the ones who firmly stood behind the president to win not even the Fulanis”.

Lamido, who spoke to pressmen in Kano, said the country had found itself in a pathetic situation, wondering what would become of the country when ethnic groups start killing one another.

He lamented that the Federal Government was not taking any serious steps to address the situation.

He said, “Today the Northerners and the entire Fulani race are not in peace even in the North, the insecurity and the killings plus kidnappings created by the APC led Buhari regime has affected everyone. So, to bully them and see them as Nigeria’s problem is adding dangerous salt to their injuries”.

Lamido said a Fulani man is no longer safe in any part of the country because of the failure of Buhari, adding that it is a dangerous development for the Fulani who are suffering because of one man.

He however added that “I expect Bola Tinubu, Rotimi Ameachi and the likes of Ngige to come out and frankly speak in protection of the Fulanis because they are behind the election of Buhari.

“But their criminal silence in the face of the horrible attacks on Fulanis after benefiting jointly in the government led by a Fulani figure head is worrisome and something like a betrayal of trust to the President and his kinsmen.

“Nigerians should know that Fulani herders are very peaceful, enterprising People who live by nature and they are never violent. It is not fair that because Buhari failed, all other Fulanis should be castigated.”

He said the APC led Buhari government came into power like “the Messiah,” but rather than making the country better or leaving it as it was, it has now plunged it “into devastating woes on so many fronts”.

He said “Today, Nigerians hate themselves as if they never lived together. Religious intolerance and bigotry has taken alarming disposition, while insecurity has nearly taking over the entire nation. Citizens can’t even travel from one end to another”.

Lamido said it was time Nigerians buried their differences and work together as one people.
