Ex-President Jonathan, Not Dasuki, Gave Me N400m – Metuh

A former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, has testified against former president Goodluck Jonathan in his ongoing corruption trial.

Metuh has been facing seven-count charge before the Federal High Court of Abuja for alleged diversion of N400 million from the office of the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, in the run up to the 2015 general elections.

But in Thursday’s proceedings of his money laundering trial, the former PDP national spokesperson reportedly told the court that he received the sum for which he is being tried from ex-president Jonathan, and not Dasuki.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had previously said it traced the N400 million it found in Metuh’s Destra Investment Ltd company account from the office of the former NSA.

Daily Trust, however, reports that the former PDP spokesperson at the resumed trial yesterday said the sum was made available to him by Jonathan and not Dasuki.

He was quoted to have told the court that the former president made the sum available to him to “to carry out the national assignment.”

“Up till May 29, 2015, no individual or group had ever questioned Dasuki’s integrity not to talk of been charged or arrested for any unlawful act,” Metuh reportedly said.

Okon Abang, the presiding judge, adjourned the case till June 24 for further hearing.
