A top police source informed THE WHISTLER that the IGP Mohammed sent a signal across the country on Wednesday redeploying a number of senior officers close to the former IG.

One of the affected officers in one of the state commands in the North West, confirm the development to the website.

“Yes, it is true, and I’m also affected. I was close to the former IG, but I advised him against many of the actions he took, especially his combative relationship with politicians and which has done a lot of damage to the image of the police,’ he said, stressing that the former IG never listened because he thought it was the right thing to do.

The superintendent of police, who revealed he also just received the signal transferring him to the North East, also condemned the former Force Public Relations Officer, Moshood Jimoh for “lack of tack” in dealing with journalists and welcomed the appointment of Frank Mba as good for the Force.

Among Idris’s men redeployed was Jimoh who also took a cue from his boss and had a combustive relationship with journalists and politicians.

The new IGP has initiated series of changes aimed at making the police more effective and efficient, including the disbandment of the Federal Special Anti- Robbery.

THE WHISTLER learnt that the new IGP was one of the senior officers of the police who were frustrated by the style and actions of the former IG.

Your Comment Sir I submit with greatest respect that I’m amazed by that decisions. I’m appealing to you Sir to revisit the issues of rank buying and lobbying of postings amongst all ranks in the police. I wish you Allah guidance and protection.

We thank God for the changes, God will continue leading the new IG aright in Jesus’ Name. But Sir, Police Service Commission ratified promotion of Inspectors to ASPs, products of last Departmental Selection Board, since 2nd December, 2018, which former IG did not release before he left. Help to revisit it, for others to have hope, please.
