The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Yakubu Mahmood, has told critics of his performance in the “inconclusive” Kogi and Bayelsa governorship elections to be ready for more inconclusive polls.

Mahmood said people should rather focus more on the provisions of the law rather than sentiments.

Speaking on Tuesday at the commission’s The Electoral Institute, Abuja, where he hosted the 11th Public Lecture of the‎ institute.

He stressed that the inconclusive elections in Kogi and Bayelsa States were neither the first nor fifth time, as according to him, in future as elections get more competitive and citizens actively participating in the process, more elections could also be inconclusive.

He however added that INEC was already studying the situations in Kogi and Bayelsa states with a view to ensuring that elections are concluded on the first ballot.
