‘Ezekwesili’s New Job In Washington DC Shows Growing Ties Between Nigeria And The United States’

The United States Government has congratulated Nigeria’s former presidential aspirant Obiageli Ezekwesili on her appointment to the Board of Directors of Nexford University in Washington D.C.

The US Mission in Nigeria, via a Facebook post on Saturday, described her as a symbol of ” deep experience in creating sustainable value and driving strategy in the education sector.”

The US further explained that Ezekwesili’s glorious career path is one of the ways the US-Nigeria bilateral relations is being strengthened.

” Proud to see continued examples of growing ties between the United States and Nigeria. Congratulations!,” the US Mission stated.

Announcing her appointment on Thursday, the DC-based online university added that the new appointees, that is , Ex-McKinsey Senior Partner, Driek Desmet, and former Nigerian Education Minister, Dr Obiageli Ezekwesili, had done exceptionally well in their respective fields.

“Their track records and proven leadership in strategy, technology and education will help Nexford University continue its impressive growth and achieve its business targets,” the university stated on its website.

Reacting, Ezekwesili expressed appreciation that the university gave her greater responsibility in recognition of an advisory role she played for the institution.

She stated:

“Having been on Nexford University’s advisory board I am delighted to now join the university’s Board of Directors to help advance the mission of this innovation-pioneering institution that is setting the pace in the delivery of world class affordable education and producing high quality talent at scale.”

Aside this new job, Ezekswesili is a Senior Fellow at Yale University.

She once served as Vice President of the World Bank, and is currently a co-founder and founding director of Transparency International.
