Fani Kayode, Others Remanded In Prison Custody Till Friday

Justice Suleiman Hassan of a Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered that the former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode and two others, be remanded in prison custody till Friday, July 1, 2016 when their bail applications would be heard.

Justice Hassan gave the remand order shortly after Fani-Kayode, a former minister of finance, Nenadi Usman and Danjuma Yusuf were arraigned before him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Fani-Kayode, who also served during the 2015 election as director media/publicity of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organization, alongside Usman and Yusuf, are accused of conspiracy, stealing, corruption and making cash payments exceeding the amount authorized by law.

Joined with the trio in the 17 counts was a company, Joint Trust Dimension Nigeria Limited.

After the defendants pleaded not guilty to all the charges preferred against them, counsel to Fani-Kayode, Mr. Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN), and that of Usman, Mr. S.I. Ameh (SAN), subsequently informed the court that they had filed applications for the bail of their clients.
