Fans React To Arrest Of Nigerian Singers In Uganda

The Arrest of Nigerian artistes, Omah Lay and Tems, has caused outrage on the micro blogging site Twitter as many of their Nigerian fans protest the development.

On Sunday, the news went viral that the new kid on the block- Stanley Omah Didia- known as Omah Lay was arrested in Uganda alongside fellow rising star Temilade Openiyi known as Tems.

Reports have it that the singers were picked up by Katwe Police in Uganda after performing at an event tagged “The Big Brunch”which held at Speke Resort, Wavamunno Rd, Kampala, Uganda.

Following their arrest, fellow Nigerian artists including Peter Okoye, Burna boy and their fans created a #FreeOmahLay trend on twitter, demanding immediate release of the young stars.

Most of those who shared views on the subject believe its a case of envy because Ugandan artist are allegedly not doing well as compared to their Nigerian counterpart.

One of the fans even claims that Ugandan musicians reported Omah Lay because he performed in a show they were not invited to.

Meanwhile, the Port Harcourt born Omah Lay gained recognition this year following the success of his debut single “You.” He is currently nominated for Headies “Next Rated” set to hold in January 2021.
