Fayose Floors Fayemi In Court, Gets Go-Ahead To Probe Minister For ‘Fraud’

Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose’s probe of his predecessor and current Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has been okayed by a High Court in Ado Ekiti.

The Court, on Wednesday, said the Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up by Governor Fayose to probe Fayemi was competently constitutional.

This comes after Fayemi approached the court to challenge the governor’s induction of the panel of inquiry to probe his tenure for alleged fraud.

But delivering his judgement, Justice Lekan Ogunmoye said Governor Fayose relied on Section 2 (1) of the Commission Inquiry Law Cap 10C Laws of Ekiti State in setting up the panel.

The panel will probe Fayemi’s administration between October 2010 and October 2014 for alleged misappropriation of funds.

The minister’s counsel, Mr. Akingbade Ogunmoyela, said after the judgement that his client may appeal the ruling.
