Fayose Replies Shehu, ‘Buhari’s Cluelessness Cost Nigerians 10m Jobs’

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has reacted to the statement made by President Muhammadu Buhari’s senior media aide that “everyone complaining of hunger should go and work.”

Mallam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, had said this to Nigerians who are groaning about the unprecedented hunger and unemployment being experienced under the present administration.

Shehu had also said the Buhari administration is “the only government that has introduced social investment schemes, we pay out now for the poorest of the poor, the least they will get is N5, 000,” adding that a lot of jobs are being created under the current regime.

Reacting to the presidential aide’s statement via his twitter page, Governor Fayose challenged President Buhari to return the alleged 10 million jobs that were lost under his government and see if Nigerians wouldn’t get back to work.

He said, “Nigerians are not lazy people. They are always willing to work to earn a living. However, by their mistake of electing Buhari as president, over 10m Nigerians lost their jobs. Return those jobs and see if Nigerians won’t get busy and stop complaining of hunger.

“Most of the States owing salary now were not owing before Buhari became President. Here in Ekiti, it was only the two months salary left unpaid by the APC govt that I took over from that was outstanding as at May 2015. Buhari’s cluelessness cost Nigerians over 10m jobs!” said the governor.
